Today, we'll take a closer look at Purenit and look at its technical properties.

What is PURENIT?

Purenit is a polyurethane product free of FCKW and HVCKW (chlorofluorocarbons harmful to the environment) based on hard PIR foam. Its properties are similar to wood, but it is much more durable. Purenite can support loads up to 7 tons, making it a great underlayment material for heavy gantries and other oversized materials. It is used to break thermal bridges in building structures, and for the contact of timber and aluminium hole fillers with the envelope or masonry in the foundation joint. Purenit can also be used to anchor roof elements at the waterproofing level or as a core for door panels in damp environments with increased resistance to penetration.

The bulk weight of purenite varies between approximately 500 and 700 kg/m3 depending on the material used. Its advantage is its high resistance to moisture, ageing, rotting, chemicals, acids, alkalis and solvents. Combined with the possibility of high mechanical stresses, these properties make it an ideal candidate for use in combination with a variety of materials and coverings, making the range of applications even wider. It can also cope with different types of adhesives or asphalt strips. In short, it is a truly versatile and extremely durable material.

HARD DATA LIES FOR EVERYTHING

We already know the general properties, but now the hard data directly from the Purenit datasheet: this material does not drip when burning, reducing the risk of fire spreading to other areas, and no smoke is produced in a fire.

The water absorption value also performs well. The long term value is Wit 0.2%, which is an extremely low result and only confirms the finding that water is not really something to worry about when using Purenit, especially if it does not affect the material in the long term. The thermal conductivity coefficient is λ = 0.070 W/(m-K). The material can be used in a temperature range from -50 to +100°C. The bulk density is 550±40 kg/m3 and the compressive stress is 5,5-7,5 MPa. All other parameters can be found in the table available to anyone working with Purenit.
